How do I take care of my tooth colored fillings

  • Tooth colored fillings are completely hardened as soon as you leave the office. You must still be careful when eating to avoid chewing on your lips, cheek, or tongue while they are numb.
  • It is not uncommon for teeth to feel slightly sensitive for a couple days after a new filling is placed. If your t ooth aches on its own or is sore when you bite together, contact our office. You may need your bi te adjusted, additional treatment, or an antibiotic.
  • Sometimes your jaw may be sore after recei ving local anesthetic. If this is the case, over the counter Ibuprophe n oftentimes works well.
  • Keep in mind that staining foods and bevera ges such as tea, wine, or berries, or smoking may stain your tooth colored filling. Be sure to stay current with your professional cleanings to help k eep this staining to a minimum.
